Greek Statue in Need of "Pants"

(Special Dispatch to "The Bulletin.")

GLOUCESTER, Mass, Oct. 8. - A sensation has been caused here by the presentation to the high school by the graduating class of 1904 of a life size copy of the Greek statue Discobolus, or The Discus Thrower.

The aldermanic committee on public property visited the building last night to inspect the work of art of which they had heard so much. The janitor lit the gas and "Discobolus" stood revealed. The aldermen were stunned at the nudity. One suggested that a special order be passed by the City Council to buy the marble a pair of "pants."

The committee returned to the City Hall, where a vote was passed requesting the janitor of the high school "forthwith to remove the indecent statuary" from the institution.
