Janina is Entered by Constantine
Greek Crown Prince Is Given Enthusiastic Welcome by Citizens.
ATHENS, March 8. - The telegraph line to Janina, which was captured by Greeks yesterday, was restored yesterday. The first message received
was directed to the Minister of War. It was announced that Crown Prince Constantine entered the town at noon, surrounded by 15,000 enthusiastic
citizens who went out to meet him.
The dispatch adds that there were extraordinary scenes as the Greek cavalry and infrantry marched into the city, the populace crying, cheering
and embracing the soldiers. Six thousand wounded or sick Turkish soldiers were found in Janina. It was reported that the Turkish troops which
escaped pillaged the shops of Christians before leaving.
Perfect order now reigns in Janina.
The Greek military authorities declared today they have 78,450 Turkish prisoners, including the troops who surrendered in Janina, while 20,000
others are surrounded at various places.
