Crete and Greece Advocating Union

Movement on Foot to Join the Governments, Greece Planning to Build a Navy of Cruisers and Torpedo Craft

ATHENS, Aug. 27. - News has been received from Crete that the enthusiasm and excitement of the populace over the movement to bring about a union with Greece have reached fever heat. Numerous mass meetings are being held at which royal support to the plan is being pledged in enthusiastic resolutions. Prince George has counseled patience, and is quoted as saying: "Our desire will be realized."

The Greek Ministry of Marine has decided to construct eight cruisers and eighteen torpedo-boat destroyers. The capital is being raised at public fetes, 20,000 francs having been realized at one of these events. American and other ship-building firms will be requested to submit estimates.
