Greek Troops Hurl Insults at King
ATHENS, Sept.11. - (The Associated Press.) - The first troops have reached Piraeus from the former Greek front in Asia Minor in a mutinous mood. They
paraded the streets of the city in small and large groups in a demonstration against King Constantine, many of them shouting insults.
The abdication of Constantine is being openly discussed and the newspapers are demanded the return of Venizelos. The royalists, however, are reacting
vigorously and insisting on the choice of General Metaxas as premier, to which the King may have to agree unless Triantafillakos succeeds in forming
a cabinet.
TURKS IN SMYRNA
SMYRNA, Sept.11. - (The Associated Press) - Strong forces of Turkish nationalist infantry today will holding all strategic points in the city.
The troops are under strict orders against indulgence and excesses, the foreign representatives and the military headquarters have been informed
by the Kemalist commander General Selah Eddin Bey.
Selah Eddin complained that the Greeks had committed wholesale devastation without military reasons, and said his men where showing that they could
make war in a civilized manner.
U.S. SAILORS LAND.
The American destroyer Lawerence has arrived here and sixty sailors from the Lawerence are guarding the American consulate.
