France to Warn Greece Against Constantine

PARIS, Nov. 22. - (The Associated Press) - France and Great Britain, the Peti Parisien will say tomorrow, "will refuse to recognize Constantine if he re-ascends to the throne" of Greece, adds "the friends of our enemies are not our friends."

PARIS, Nov. 22. - (The Associated Press) - The French government will not oppose by "physical" force the return of former king Constantine to the Greek throne, which the Foreign Office now regards as inevitable, the Associated Press was informed today.

It was stated that Premier Leygues will advocate at his meeting with Premier Lloyd George of Great Britain that a joint note be sent to the Greek people, pointing out to them very strongly the consequences of Constantine's restoration, prominent among which would be the withdrawal of all financial and economic support of Greece.

The meeting between Premiers Leygues and Lloyd George has been advanced and probably will be held Thursday or Friday.

CABINET WORKS HARD.

ATHENS, Nov. 21 - (The Associated Press) - Members of the new Greek cabinet are working overtime to establish the new regime and reinstate thousands of functionaries and military officers removed by former Premier Venizelos.

Apparently the new ministry is attempting to pursue a policy of moderation toward followers of the former premier. An indication of this sentiment may be found in the retention of Sterialias as governor of Smyrna, while M. Politis has been asked to continue his work as foreign minister.

"Please call the attention of Americans to the fact the nation is now united." said Demetrius Gounaris, to the Associated Press today. "This is shown by the joy of the nation's deliverance during the past few Mays. We are no longer trying to assasinate others, as M. Venizelos predicted, because of his non-election."

"Greece will continue her role of civilization" in the Orient, he continued. "I do not believe the allies will revise the Turkish treaty. So far as we are concerned, we were given Thrace and Smyrna, not because of Venizelos. If necessary Constantine would reunite our armies with which he is popular. This is a matter for consideration if we should be obliged to fight the Turks.

"It is time nations quit wars and returned to work again. We wish to live at peace with all nations, and we trust our Turkish relations will not throw us in contact with the Russian Bolshevists."

General Parpoulas has been named by the Greek government successor to General Paraskevopoulos, commander of the Greek forces on the Smyrna front.

Lord Granville, British representative here, accompanied by George Rhallis, the new Greek premier, today went on board the battleship Iron Duke flagship of the British squadron.

The presence of a British squadron at Piraeus, the port of Athens, and the visit to it of the premier of the newly-established regime, accompanied by the British admiral, apparently have a significance not described by the dispatch, and the possibilities of censorship are suggested. This is the first announcement of the arrival of the British warships. It was the British and French fleets which took an active part in the abdication of Constantine in June, 1917.

PLAN KAISER VISIT.

CORFU, Nov. 22. - Achilleion Villa, the property of former Emperor William of Germany, is being repainted and thoroughly put in order, as if to receive a guest. The neighborhood has been cleaned up, and the avenue leading to the villa from the main road, which during the regime of Premier Venizelos was known as "Liberty avenue," now bears its orginal title, "Avenue William II."

It is rumored here that one of the first efforts of Queen Sophia upon returning to Athens will be to secure consent from the allies for the visit of the former emperor to Corfu.
