Grecian Art is Unveiled at Dedication
The attractive Grecian pavillon at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition was dedicated today. As a part of the service
183 pieces of statuary, reproductions of the most famous Grecian masters, were unveiled to the public. At the close of the
Exposition the Grecian government will donate all these magnificient pieces of art to the city and county of San Francisco.
The exercises opened with prayer by the Rev. R. Calistos. William H. Crocker, vice president of the Exposition, acted as
chairman of the day. Counsul General C. Vassardakis, Commissioner General of Greece, made the principal address. Other addresses
were made by William Bailey Lamar, United States National Exposition Commissioner; Hiram W. Johnson, Governor of California, and
James Rolph Jr., Mayor of San Francisco. At intervals during the program national anthems, both American and Grecian were played
by the official band.
