Obituary - Anna Loutas
LOUTAS, Anna -- Passed away March 30, 2001. She was born in San Francisco April 7, 1912. Her parents were John and Mary
Molanis. She was the wife of the late Kericos 'Louie' Loutas; sister of Katie Pappas, Angel Mastoras, Helen Cordellis,
Timothy Molanis, John Molanis, Alice Keriotis and Despina Pommons; mother of Daniel (Stephania) and John (Francine)
Loutas; grandmother of Kericos, Dean and Stephanie Ann Loutas; aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished friend of
Connie Panagotacos. Anna was a very active member of the Annunciation Cathedral in San Francisco. From 1950 she held the
office of treasurer for the Annunciation Greek School Parent Teachers Organization. This was a steppng stone to becoming
treasurer of the Cathedral Philoptochos Greek Ladies Society, a position she held for many years. Her knowledge of finance
enabled the Philoptochos to invest wisely in various ventures and provide reserve funds to accomplish a new church facility
five years ago. Anna became president of Philoptocos which flourished under her leadership. She was elected Mother of the
Year of Annunciation Cathedral, and was the second woman to be elected to the Cathedral Parish Council. She was also on the
board of the Diocese Philoptochos. In June 1981, she received the Medal of St. Paul from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of
America--the highest honor it bestows on a woman. Anna did not stop there; she was a member of the San Francisco American
Business Women's Club, and was very active in the Daughters of Penelope. She worked through the chairs and became president
of Eos Chapter One of San Francisco, and was elected Penelope of the Year. She was elected Governor of District 21 and
Penelope of the Year for the district. Anna organized many tours to Europe, Asia and the Holy Land for the church. Friends
may call at Annunciation Cathedral Monday 7:30 - 9pm where the Trisagion service will be offered. Funeral Service Tuesday,
April 3, 10:30am also at the Cathedral. Interment at Greek Orthodox Memorial Park. Donations to Annunciation Cathedral,
