Fr. Pythagoras Caravellas

St. Sophia was incorporated in June, 1921. On August 19, 1921, Fr. Caravellas was assigned as the assistant priest of St. Sophia. After Fr. Philaretos became bishop, Fr. Caravellas was permanently assigned to St. Sophia. Fr. Caravellas served as parish priest until Sept. 1929 and then from Sept. 1929 - Sept. 1930 in a supportive role to Fr. Spyropoulos.

The Valencia Theater was purchased in March, 1928. Fr. Caravellas was our first priest at the Valencia Street location.

1996 marked the 60th anniversary for Annunciation Cathedral. We published a 60th anniversary commerative album and relatives of Fr. Caravellas wrote this short biography of his life, which is reprinted here.
