Greeks Launch Drive Today For a Half Million
Volunteer workers today began gather subscriptions to finance the construction of the new Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St.
Sophia at Hayes, Fell, and Pierce-st.
The drive is for $500,000. A school and orphanage will also be built. Mayor Rolph is the chairman of the general committee.
Campaign headquarters have been opened at 1118 Hewes bldg.
The cornerstone of the cathedral was recently laid by Rev. Meletios Metaxakis, archbishop of Athens. The campaign committee
