Welcome.....

I welcome you to the Annunciation Cathedral's Web Page and encourage you to browse our rich religious faith and unique cultural heritage.

You can learn much about Orthodox Christianity by browsing through related sites. The Orthodox Church considers itself to be the unaltered Christian Faith founded by Christ and the Apostles. While western churches lapsed into schism and heresy, Orthodoxy has retained the Faith of the early Church. We invite you, through your own spiritual journey of study and prayer, to see whether these claims are true. Today, the Christian world is divided. It should not be. We believe the Church to be one.

At the same time, we are mindful of the Lord's prayer that all Christians be of one household. The Orthodox Church plays an important role in this regard. You can also learn about our cultural heritage, that is, the entire history, ethos, and other literature of the Greek people. In fact, Orthodox Christianity is a synthesis of the religion of the Hebrew people, summarized in the Old Testament, as reconstituted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and Greek culture. Many of the philosophical presuppositions found in the pages of the New Testament are, of course, Greek and were operative in Apostolic times.

At the Annunciation Cathedral we experience both our Christian faith and our Greek heritage and endeavor to do what we can to pass on this living legacy to those who will come after us. We invite you to be a part of this pursuit. We welcome you and your concerns, and invite your comments.

We wish you a good journey, and may God bless you.

Fr. Stephen Kyriacou
