| SUNDAY
SCHOOL KORNER
It’s
already June, which means it’s time for us to
celebrate the end of the school year. Graduation Sunday will be
observed on June 6. We are all very proud of the work the students
have done this school year, and we wish to give them an appropriate
send-off. We will hold our traditional graduation procession and
program, which will be followed by a “picnic” of hot
dogs and hamburgers (complimentary, of course). We wish to extend
a big thank you to Bonnie Grampsas, Andy Vellis and Mike Canellos
for their support and work with the coffee hour, on behalf of the
Sunday School. We so appreciate their efforts, Efharisto! Children
are asked to remember to bring/wear their Sunday School pins to
church on Graduation Day. Denise Yeilding will have the bars to
add to the pins, showing your commitment to attending Sunday School.

ANNUNCIATION
CATHEDRAL’S
FAMILY SUMMER CAMP
Once again, Annunciation
Cathedral will sponsor a Family Summer Camp. Our 10th Annual
Family Camp will take place August 4 through
August 9 (five nights, six days), at the Casini Ranch Family Campground,
along the Russian River. We invite you to experience the beauty
of California’s North Coast by participating in the Cathedral’s
summer camp program. The Campground consists of 120 acres, and
includes a mile of sandy waterfront. Enjoy hiking, bicycling, volleyball,
softball, horseshoes, fishing, Bible study and morning and evening
prayer services, not to mention campfire, drifting along the river
in a canoe, or just relaxing on the beach. Space is limited, and
reservations are on a first come first serve basis. The Cost of
$370 for a family of 2 persons, $390 for a family of 3 persons,
$410 for a family of 4 persons, and $430 for a family of 5 persons
includes all meals, but does not include the cost of a tent. For
reservations and additional information, please call Patty Rally.
BASKETBALL
CLINIC TUESDAY, AUGUST 17 – FRIDAY, AUGUST 20
The Annunciation Cathedral
is pleased to offer a summer basketball clinic for its youth.
The purpose of the clinic is to teach younger
children the basics of basketball as well as to improve the skills
of our more accomplished players. It is the Cathedral’s 5th
annual clinic and it will be held in its Korinthias Gym, at 245
Valencia Street, San Francisco, from Tuesday, August 17 through
Friday, August 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., all five days. All youth,
ages 7 to 14, are cordially invited to participate in this worthwhile
instructional program. Snacks and lunch will be provided, along
with instruction by former players from the Cathedral’s various
championship teams. Basketball shoes, shorts and/or sweats are
required. Registration forms are available at the Cathedral office.
If one prefers, a form may be requested by calling the Cathedral,
415 864-8000. The course is complimentary for children of Cathedral
members. A fee of $50 is applicable for children whose parents
are not pledged members of the Cathedral.
GYM CLOSED JUNE 14 THROUGH JULY 5
In order to repair the section of the gym floor that was damaged
by a burst water ump earlier this year, the Korinthias Hall will
be closed from June 14 through July 4. About 1000 square feet
of flooring and sub-flooring will be replaced, and then the entire
floor will be re-striped and several coats of finishing will
be applied. Because of the nature of the damage, the Cathedral’s
insurance will cover the repairs.
GOYA MAKES REL IEF KITS FOR HAITI
 At our last meeting
on May 13th, our Cathedral GOYA made relief kits for the country
of Haiti. Through UMCOR (United Methodist
Committee on Relief, a Christian organization), 20 hygiene kits
were assembled by 15 GOYAns, with supplies such as hand towels,
soap, toothbrushes, and band-aids. The kits have been sent to Haiti
to provide some relief to the inhabitants of the country whose
lives have been devastated after the massive earthquake on January
12 of this year. Thank you to our GOYAns who dedicated their time
and energies to offer this Christian charity. If anyone is interested
in participating in GOYA activities (junior high-high school),
please contact Deacon Niko Bekris at (415) 864-8000, or visit “Youth
of Annunciation
Cathedral San Francisco Facebook” page.
YOUNG ADULT SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
As of this last May, our Cathedral Young Adults have now begun
meeting twice every month! The second Thursday of every month will
be a social activity, and the last Thursday of every month the
young adult group will meet to have dinner somewhere in San Francisco.
Thursday, May 13, our young adults met to have crepes and coffee
at Ti Couz, a wonderful creperie in the Mission, and then came
to watch two of our Annunciation basketball teams play against
each other in our Church league the same evening.
If you are
a young adult new to the San Francisco area, or want to reconnect
with other
young adults in the Cathedral community,
this is a wonderful opportunity to do so (and you do NOT have to
be single, since this is not a singles’ group!). For more
information, please contact Deacon Niko Bekris at (415) 864-8000,
or visit “Youth of Annunciation Cathedral San Francisco” Facebook
page.
